Generator Installations was asked to decommissioning the existing fuel tanks and fuel system and renew the fuel system to meet current regulations and requested generator installation experience and knowledge to complete the works for one of the largest components distributors in the UK. The works included the emptying, cleaning, degassing, decommissioning and disposal of three existing, 60,000 litre fuel tanks.
Once the old tanks had been removed, they was replaced with three new tanks including pump sets, panel and gauges, fully connected to all existing pipework and cabling.
The removal of the old tanks required close co-ordination between Generator Installations, the crane lift contractor and an ADR licenced transporter to move the tanks away from site. Each of the three tanks was in different location and setup in different configurations, making each of the three lifts a unique challenge.
The tanks was replaced with brand new, custom built double skinned tanks built to BS 799 type J standard, that was positioned in the same location as the removed tanks, fully connected to new and existing pipe work and filled with re polished diesel ready for use.
As part of the project, Generator installations was asked to replace a large amount of existing double skinned steel pipe work, all in all consisting of 130 metersof 25mm in 50mm mild steel pipe in pipe.Share
